Frequently Asked Questions
No experience is necessary! We love bringing in all types of students. From those who haven't yet made a movie before to those who have already been making movies and have a reel to show!
All students should bring a laptop, writing utensil, notebook, water, and nut-free snack.
Our refund policy can be viewed by clicking here. Full refunds will be provided until 7 full days before the workshop begins. For example, if your workshop starts on Saturday at 11am, you may notify us of your cancellation and receive a full refund anytime before 11am on the previous Saturday. Once we are within the 7 day window, the sale is final and no refunds are provided.
Absolutely! The age ranges are just general guidelines. Please enroll your child in any class you think best suits them.
Yes, 100%! While there is a structured curriculum, each workshop and film project will develop differently based on the students in that class. Enrolling in multiple classes is an incredible way to expand your child’s collaborative circle. Additionally, you may move your kid up levels, from Beginner to Intermediate, Intermediate to Advanced!
Yes, it is highly encouraged that all parents and guardians come to the Final Film Showcase at the end of the Workshop! Exhibiting films in public spaces, and creating a dialogue between artist and audience, is a fundamental part of the filmmaking process. We further encourage students and families to invite whoever they want to the showcase.
There are currently no scholarships available, but BFA is actively applying to grants to provide scholarships in the future!
Current enrollment for each Cohort will max out at 12 students per Workshop Level.
Hopefully there aren’t any absences, as the project we work on will be determined by who we have, our collective ideas, and the positions and/or roles we assign for each student. But we understand that life happens! We’ll make changes to roles or positions if needed. There are no refunds for missed classes. Please reference the refund policy above.
